In line with its clear strategy for further business growth, Big Sky Building Society has created the role of general manager, sales, service and distribution, and appointed Helen Burgess to the position. The move follows the appointment of Matthew Chan to the newly created role head of operations and projects in October.

Reporting to chief executive officer Robert Bell, Ms Burgess joins Big Sky from AMP, and has close to 20 years experience in financial services sales and service.

“Helen’s skill set and experience make her a good fit for Big Sky, and she brings extensive experience and established relationships to the role,” Mr Bell says.

“Her career over the past nine years has been at AMP Bank and included business development, third party origination and sales leadership roles.  She played a key role in AMP’s banking development and growth over that time, including third party and direct channels.”

Ms Burgess has also worked in a number of senior management roles. Most recently she was AMP Bank’s national sales manager (acting) and state sales manager for Victoria, South Australia and Queensland.

Ms Burgess holds Diploma and Certificate qualifications in Business and Mortgage Lending, she is currently in the process of completing a Diploma in Financial Planning.

Big Sky Building Society has operated in Australia for over 40 years. Big Sky is a wholly owned subsidiary of Australian Unity Limited, a national financial services, healthcare and retirement living organisation that has been operating for more than 170 years.
