Equity Trustees (EQT) has consolidated its position in the corporate responsible superannuation entity (RSE) market through its appointment as trustee and custodian of The Executive Superannuation Fund.
The $800 million fund is a corporate master trust, which includes the staff and Partners of KPMG as well as their spouses and many former employees. This appointment brings the total assets of superannuation funds in Equity Trustees’ corporate RSE business to $2.2 billion.
In a move that coincides with the transition of trustee for The Executive Superannuation Fund, Equity Trustees has appointed Mr John Rodd as head of its newly created Superannuation Trustee Office.
“The creation of the Superannuation Trustee Office is clear recognition of the importance of superannuation to the future of our business, and it brings all of Equity Trustees’ RSE responsibilities together under the one umbrella,” said Mr Robin Burns, Equity Trustees’ Managing Director.
“The Superannuation Trustee Office will be responsible for compliance and superannuation license requirements as well as driving business development in the Trustee for Partnership sector.”
The Superannuation Trustee Office’s custody and administration service is complemented by Equity Trustees’ enhanced Chief Investment Officer function, which oversees the investment strategy of the fund and ensures that the fund complies with the strategy, as well as monitoring the underlying investments.
“Being appointed RSE to The Executive Fund is a significant step forward for the business, both in the size of the fund and as a vindication of our capabilities in this area,” Mr Burns said.
Mr Rodd has over 30 years financial services experience, most recently as Chief Financial Officer of the $6.2 billion Equipsuper Superannuation Fund.
Mr Rodd will report to the Head of Private Wealth Services, Mr Geoffory Rimmer, and will be supported by seven team members in Sydney and Melbourne.
