Grant Samuel Funds Management (GSFM) has appointed industry expert Stephen Miller to the newly created role of investment consultant. Mr Miller will be based in Sydney and report to CEO Damien McIntyre.

Mr Miller was most recently head of fixed income, managing director, and fund manager, with BlackRock Investment Management (Australia), a position he held for 14 years.

Prior to this he spent 14 years as executive vice president, head of fixed income at Bankers Trust in Sydney and New York. He was also a research officer with The Treasury, a position he held for six years.

In the new role, Mr Miller will be assisting GSFM accelerate its positioning of Payden & Rygel and the various fixed income strategies in the institutional and retail markets.

He will also work with retail clients more generally, and will assist Mr McIntyre and executive chair Andrew McKinnon as they add more partners to the GSFM fund manager line-up.

“Steve brings over 30 years’ experience in international economic and policy analysis to the GSFM team, both at the official level during his time with Treasury and as a senior portfolio manager of domestic and international bond portfolios at leading international fund managers,” said Mr McIntyre

“Steve can draw upon his many years of fixed income experience and his extensive network in the institutional and retail markets in his new role with GSFM.

“As a respected market commentator, his knowledge of the global economic and financial markets will prove invaluable as he works with the fund manager partners in the GSFM stable, helping them to recognise new opportunities and enhance their local offerings,” Mr McIntyre said.

Mr Miller started with GSFM on 5 February, 2018. He holds a Bachelors Degree (First Class Honours), Economics from the University of Western Australian, and a Masters in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
